New Delhi, Amid slogan shouting by opposition members protesting against the suspension of 12 members for 'misconduct', Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday adjourned the House till 12 pm.

As soon as the opposition raised their voices and started shouting slogans, Chair Naidu said he would not allow it to go on record, and after telling the opposition members to return to their seats, he adjourned the House till noon.

“I cannot allow this, and I hope it is not shown (by the TV). This is sacrilege. There is no remorse…. Challenging the Chair, doing everything undemocratic. This should not be shown".

“If you don’t want to have Zero Hour, if you don’t want Special Mentions, and the House to run…. This should not be shown.. The people are getting dismayed".

“Nothing will go on record, why are you wasting your time"?

“Everybody should go to their seats, I don’t want to see these unruly scenes,” the Chair said, and then adjourned the House till noon.

Earlier, as soon as the House met, Jose K Mani of the Kerala Congress took oath as a new member. The reports of various parliamentary committees were laid on the table by different members, after which the Opposition members began creating a ruckus.

The opposition is demanding revocation of the suspension of the 12 members who were suspended on Monday for their "misconduct" on August 11, on the last day of the Monsoon session. Chairman Naidu has refused to revoke the suspension, while Leader of the House Piyush Goyal has demanded that the suspended members must first apologise.
