Patwari held taking Rs 37,000 bribe

Chandigarh: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught a Patwari posted in Jhajjar district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.37,000.

While giving information here today, a spokesperson of the Bureau said that the arrested accused has been identified as Ajay.

Complainant, a resident of the Jhajjar district, approached Ajay, a Halka Patwari, to separate the Khevat of his ancestral land. On this, the accused Patwari demanded a total of Rs 42,000 at the rate of Rs 6000 per khevat. The complainant also gave Rs 5,000 advance in compulsion.

The complainant who did not wish to pay bribe approached the Vigilance Bureau and lodged a complaint against the accused employee following which a team conducted a raid in the presence of the duty magistrate and nabbed the accused official red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 37,000.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered against the accused in Bureau’s police station, Rohtak. A further investigation is underway.
