Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday recovered by 202.20 points at 57,347.42 in opening trade following gains in FMCG, Financial services, IT and Utilities stocks. The Nifty too rose 71.40 points at 17,087.70.
The Sensex registered days high and low at 57,704.57 and 57,304.12 points respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,176.45 and 17,051.75 points respectively. The Mid Cap moved up by 0.01 per cent and Small Cap by 0.56 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 24 advanced while 6 declined. The gainers were Hind Unilever by 1.57 per cent to Rs 2705, Nestle India Ltd by 1.56 per cent to Rs 18,742.25, ITC by 1.47 per cent to Rs 337.45 Infosys by 1.32 per cent to Rs 1398 and Bharti Airtel by 1.24 per cent to Rs 751.65.
The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1 per cent to Rs 8742.45, Tata Steel by 0.85 per cent to Rs 99, Titan by 0.58 per cent to Rs 2639 and L& T by 0.25 per cent to Rs 1846.70.
