New Delhi, BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma on Monday criticized the the new excise policy of the Delhi government, alleging Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of promoting liquor shops in the national capital.
Criticizing Delhi government's new excise policy during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, the West Delhi MP said Kejriwal government wants to collect excise duty to the tune of 10 thousand crores from the liquor shops.
Taking a dig at Kejriwal, he said Delhi CM talks about de-addiction in Punjab, but he himself promotes the use of liquor in the national capital.
He said that the Delhi government is going to open the liquor shops till 3 pm which would not good for society.
It is opening a pink bar for women. The government has said that women who consumes alcohol at night will get a discount. Similarly, instead of 25-year-old youth, 21-year-old youth will get liquor. Will this benefit the public?, he asked.
The LS MP further said that the Delhi Government is also talking about opening of liquor shops in non-commercial areas. He alleged that Delhi CM talks about schools and colleges, but he promoted liquor shops and its use in reality.
He said when the people were dying owing to the oxygen crunch in the national capital, the Delhi government could not provide the life-saving gas to their citizens, but on the contrary, it introduced new excise duty on June 28.
