December 14, 2021 10:40 PM

New Delhi, Kicking off pre-Budget stakeholder consultations, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would hold meeting with experts of agriculture and agro-processing industry on December 15 in virtual mode.

Amid most high-frequency indicators signalling economic recovery, Sitharaman would present General Budget 2022-23 in February, 2022.

The gross domestic product (GDP) recorded 8.4% growth in the second quarter of the current fiscal stoking hopes of economy regaining the momentum after Corona virus pandemic derailed it.

The growth in July-September quarter was broad-based with all sectors of the economy including services contributing to it.

Official sources said that Sitharaman would hold consultation with stakeholders in the area of 'Industry, Infrastructure and Climate Change' on December 17.

Meanwhile, Economic Advisor in Finance Ministry Rajiv Mishra has written to various industry groups to send their inputs for the budget through email.

The government is set to continue its focus on infrastructure building in the country and provide substantial funds for this. With government expected to exceed its expectations on tax collection for FY22, higher allocation for infrastructure sectors would remain a priority.
