Premier League: Man United vs Brentford match postponed amid Covid-19 outbreak

December 14, 2021 10:43 PM

Manchester, Manchester United on Tuesday confirmed that the Premier League fixture against Brentford FC will be rescheduled in due course after the outbreak of Covid-19.

The development came "following the PCR confirmation of positive LFT Covid-19 tests among the first-team staff and players". The club said that the outbreak requires ongoing surveillance.

"A decision was taken to close first-team operations at the Carrington Training Complex for 24 hours to help minimise risk of further infection, and individuals who tested positive are isolating in line with Premier League protocols," United said in a statement.

The cancellation of training and disruption caused to the squad, and keeping the health of players and staff as priority, the club requested the match to be rescheduled.

"The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone based on guidance from medical advisors."

Manchester United sit in the fifth place with 27 points in the Premier League table, while Brentford are at the 10th position with 20 points.
