Chandigarh: In order to strengthen the nationwide 'Zero Accident at Workplace' campaign in association with Chandigarh Muncipal Corporation, the 'Safe Tech Awards and Conference' was organized at Hotel Shivalikview, Sector 17 on Monday wherein the experts from concerned trade delibrate upon the meet the challenges in this sector
.During the event, fire fighters and fire managers were honored as Fire Heroes. According to the organizer NK Gupta, the objective of the program was not only to create awareness among the people about safety precautions during emergency situations like fire accidents and but also to honor those heroes in the society who protect lives and properties by risking their lives.
During the event, a total of 43 Fire Heroes and institutions from across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh region were felicitated for their outstanding contribution towards fire safety. Municipal Corporation's Chief Fire Officer and Joint Commissioner Gurjinder Singh Sodhi, Punjab Government's Fire Advisor Bhupinder Singh, Chandigarh Station Fire Officer Jagtar Singh awarded the winners. Chandigarh Fire Department's Jagtar Singh Sandhu, Lal Bahadur, Kulwinder Singh, Lovepreet Bolina, Swarna Chand, Surendra Singh, Pradeep Kumar, Jaswinder Singh Bangu, Amarendra Singh Sandhu and PGI's Rajesh Kumar and PS Saini were honored.
During the seminar, experts discussed issues like safe evacuation during fire, modern fire safety training, industrial electrical safety, workers safety and other issues. Experts were of the opinion that precautions taken in advance and awareness about fire accidents can save innumerable lives and properties worth crores of rupees in the country. That's why people should always take this sensitive subject seriously.
A mini exhibition of fire safety equipment and services was also organized on the occasion which proved extremely beneficial for the visitors. The organizers expressed special thanks to Fire Officer Naveen Kumar and Fire Consultant Anuj Agarwal for successful execution of the program in Chandigarh
