Farmers allege discrepancies in paddy weighing

In Nilokheri grain mandi, open looting is being carried out with the farmers in the name of paddy weighing, but no one seems to be listening to the aggrieved farmers.

37 kg 500 gms of paddy is filled in the katta (bag) and the subsequent weight is said to be the weight of the empty katta while the weight of the empty new katta is 580 gms as per the procurement agency Hafed. In this way, farmers are duped of more than 100 gms per bag.

It is a matter of investigation as to whose pockets are being lined with this money. But the farmers feel cheated and they say that when the Secretary Mandi Secretary does not know the weight of the empty katta, how will he be able to protect their interests.

On the other hand, in the grain mandi, as per the instructions of the deputy commissioner, the gate pass should be issued from 5:00 am, but the secretary starts issuing passes at 7:00 a.m. He argues when procurement starts in the afternoon, what is the point in issuing passes at 5 p.m. It seems he is not bothered with the orders of the deputy commissioner.

When asked about the alleged weighing discrepancies, the secretary of Nilokheri market committee says that he will find out from the agencies what is the weight of the katta (bag)

Malkhan Singh, head of Nilokheri grain mandi, said that if this is happening in the mandi, then it is wrong and the market committee is responsible for it.
