December 22, 2021 11:01 PM

Tel Aviv, Israel will begin the roll out of a fourth dose of Covid-19 vaccine, according to Prime Minister's Office.

According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, the fourth dose will be given to people above 60-years-old, medical workers, and people with a suppressed immune system.

“The State of Israel is continuing to stand at the forefront of the global effort to deal with the pandemic. The citizens of Israel were the first in the world to receive the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and we are continuing to pioneer with the fourth dose as well,” said Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

“Wonderful news, do not waste time – go get vaccinated,” he added.

Meanwhile, the gap between second and third dose has been shortened from five months to three months.

According to CNN report, the latest Omicron data in Israel shows 341 confirmed cases, of which more than two thirds were in people either fully vaccinated or recently recovered from the disease.
