Biden praises former US Prez for getting Covid booster shot

December 22, 2021 11:04 PM

Washington, In a rare moment of bipartisanship, US President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump have for once found common ground -- need for booster shots amid rise of Omicron cases.

Praising Trump for getting his booster shot, Biden said, "Just the other day, former President Trump announced he had gotten his booster shot—maybe one of the few things he and I agree on. People with booster shots are highly protected. Join them. Join us."

Speaking from the White House about his administration's efforts amid the surge in Omicron cases on Tuesday, he said, "I got my booster shot as soon as they were available."

He also praised the Trump administration and the scientific community for rolling out the Covid vaccines.

He said, "Let me be clear. Thanks to the prior administration and our scientific community, America was one of the first countries to get the vaccine."

"Thanks to my administration and the hard work of Americans, we led a roll out, made America among the world leaders in getting shots in arms," he added.

The President's comments come two days after Trump had disclosed that he has received his booster shot.

CNN quoted the former President as accepting, at an event in Houston, he has indeed received the booster shot.

While trying to quiet the boos by the audience, he said, "Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't...That's all right. It's a very tiny group over there."

Trump has long declined to encourage the public to get vaccinated and never openly discussed his vaccination status despite being tested Covid positive while serving office.

Previously, he had even claimed that vaccines were dangerous.
