1983 World Cup winning India team gathers at Film City

Mumbai, The 1983 Cricket World Cup winning India team gathered for an interactive session ahead of the much-awaited release of 83 film here at the Film City on Tuesday.

The movie 83 is based on the Indian team that defeated the mighty West Indies by 43 runs in the final at the Lord's.

The Kapil Dev-led side became the first Indian team to win the Cricket World Cup.

The playing XI included Sunil Gavaskar, Kris Srikkanth, Mohinder Amarnath, Yashpal Sharma, Sandeep Patil, Kapil Dev (c), Kirti Azad, Roger Binny, Madan Lal, Syed Kirmani (wk), and Balwinder Sandhu.

Taking it to Twitter, Kirti Azad shared pictures of the team ahead of an interaction with media persons. PR Man Singh, the manager of the 1983 team, also accompanied the players.

Actor Ranveer Singh will be seen portraying the role of Kapil in 83, alongside Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, and Harrdy Sandhu as Madan Lal.

Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Dinker Sharma as Kirti Azad, Nishant Dahiya as Roger Binny, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Ammy Virk as Balwinder Sandhu, Adinath Kothare as Dilip Vengsarkar, Dhairya Karwa as Ravi Shastri, and R Badree as Sunil Valson complete the star cast of the Indian team.

Actress Deepika Padukone will play the role of Romi Bhatia, Kapil's wife, Neena Gupta as Raj Kumari Nikhanj, Kapil's mother, and actor Pankaj Tripathi as PR Man Singh, manager of the team.
