Jalandhar to host state-level 'Punjab Yog Samagam' on June 19 at PAP

Jalandhar: The Jalandhar District Administration is fully geared up to host the upcoming state-level 'Punjab Yog Samagam' on June 19 at the PAP Complex under 'CM Di Yogshala' initiative. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur visited the venue at 5am today wherein they personally have final touch to the preparations of this grand event.


While reviewing the arrangements for the event, the DC expressed pride that Jalandhar has been chosen by Punjab Government to host this prestigious state-level celebration. He stated that thousands of volunteers will participate and perform yoga together under the guidance of expert trainers to promote the message of physical and mental well-being across the state.

Sharing further details, Dr. Aggarwal said that comprehensive preparations are underway to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. Various departments have been assigned specific responsibilities. Key logistical aspects—including stage setup, parking arrangements, volunteer safety and security, provision of drinking water, refreshments, signage, mobile toilets, traffic regulation, and deployment of medical teams—were thoroughly discussed during a review meeting held at the District Administrative Complex.


Highlighting the significance of yoga, Dr. Aggarwal said it promotes physical and mental well-being, helps in relaxing the body, and reduces stress when practiced regularly. Notably, the ambitious ‘CM di Yogshala’ initiative launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is also completing two successful years this month. Under this program, a large number of participants receive yoga training from professional instructors. Currently, 155 yoga classes are being conducted daily across the district, benefiting over 5,000 individuals.


Dr. Aggarwal added that yoga not only improves physical and mental health but also plays a crucial role in steering the youth away from drug abuse by enhancing their mental strength and resilience.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur stated that proper security arrangements have been ensured by the Police for the convenient of participants for smooth conduct of this gala event. She reviewed security deployment at the venue site and directed the Police officials to execute traffic plan for easy traffic flow around the venue.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Commissioner Jalandhar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Amaninder Kaur, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma, DCP Naresh Dogra, Commandant PAP Mandeep Singh, ADCP Traffic Gurbaaz Singh, Secretary RTA Balbir Raj, SDMs, and representatives of different departments.
