Chandigarh : Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the state government would provide government jobs on priority to one member from each of the 121 families who lost their kin during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Saini made this significant statement during the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha, reaffirming the government’s commitment to justice and support for victims’ families.
The Chief Minister shared that during the 1984 riots, Haryana witnessed the destruction of 20 Gurudwaras, 221 houses, 154 shops, 57 factories, three railway coaches, and 85 vehicles, with 58 people injured and 121 fatalities reported. He appealed to the affected families to mutually decide and submit the name of an eligible family member through their district’s Deputy Commissioner to the Haryana Chief Secretary.
