Cotton traders will be able to get licenses by paying one-time tax, Manohar Lal

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has given yet another exclusive gift to the traders of the state. Now traders who are into cotton crushing work will be able to get license by paying a one-time tax in the state. This will increase business in the state and the government will also get revenue.

The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting with the office-bearers of Bhartiya Vyapar Mandal and Haryana Oil Mills Association at ‘Sant Kabir Kutir’ here today. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. J P Dalal, Chief Administrator, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, Sh. T. L. Satyaprakash, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister-II, Smt. Ashima Brar also remained present on the occasion.

In the meeting, it was decided that now cotton crushing traders will be able to obtain license by paying a one-time tax of Rs 42000 per unit of expeller and will pay this tax every financial year. This decision will be applicable for three years. After this, the tax will be reviewed again.

The Chief Minister said that earlier filling up of L-1 form was mandatory for crushing cotton units, that are bringing raw material from outside but after this decision, it will not be mandatory to fill the L-1 form. In this way, the government will get revenue of Rs 42000 per unit as a processing fee for cottonseed oil mills. There are about 453 crushing units and 1520 expeller units running in Haryana.

On this decision, office bearers of Bhartiya Vyapar Mandal expressed their happiness and gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister, Sh. J.P Dalal.

They said that a state-level function would soon be organized by the Mandal to thank the Chief Minister and the Agriculture Minister.

State President, Bhartiya Vyapar Mandal, Sh. Ram Avtar Tayal, Chairman, Sh. Vikas Agarwal, Deputy President, Sh. Rajesh Chaudhary and many other officials also remained present in the meeting.
