CHAMBA: Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal inaugurated the state-level art and cultural festival organised under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha at the historic Chaugan ground in Chamba today.

Around 400 participants from across Himachal Pradesh are taking part in the event. Under the art festival, students from classes 9 to 12 will compete in 12 different contests, while students from classes 3 to 8 will showcase their skills in six competitions under the cultural segment.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner extended best wishes to the participants and said that alongside academics, students’ involvement in multifaceted activities plays a vital role in shaping their future. He encouraged them to give their best during the festival.

Repaswal urged teachers and parents to motivate children to participate in activities aligned with their interests. He added that apart from formal education, students should develop extra skills that help them grow into capable and responsible citizens.

He noted that participation in such events helps overcome stage fear, enhances public speaking and performance skills, and boosts confidence — qualities that cannot be developed merely through classroom learning.

Highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s rich folk art and cultural heritage, Repaswal said that active participation of students is essential for its preservation and promotion.

Earlier, Deputy Director (School Education Quality) and District Project Officer, Samagra Shiksha, Bhag Singh delivered the welcome address.

State Coordinator Rekha Guleria shared key details about the art and cultural festival. Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Director (School Education) Vikas Mahajan, Balbir Singh, District Coordinator Dr. Rashi Jandrotia, OSD Education Umakant Anand, along with education officers and students from various districts across the state.
