Dalhousie: DSP Dalhousie Mayank Sharma said that ASI Sunil Kumar, Incharge PP Bakloh of Police Station Chowari, along with the police team, was on routine patrol from Tunuhatti to Nainikhad on Sunday evening. Around 5:15 pm, while the police party was checking vehicles at Zero Point, Link Road Khairi, a Winger vehicle (HP01C 1112) coming from the Nainikhad side was signalled to stop.
The vehicle was being driven by Anuj Kumar, son of Kishan Chand, resident of village Luthnu, Post Office Bathri, Tehsil Dalhousie, District Chamba. On initial visual inspection, ASI Sunil Kumar noticed objectionable items inside the vehicle. Acting on suspicion, he conducted a detailed search in the presence of witnesses.
During checking, the police recovered 10 boxes of Country Liquor Marka Una No. 1 from the vehicle. The driver failed to produce any valid documents, licence, or permit for transporting the liquor.
Following this, a rukka was prepared against Anuj Kumar and sent to Police Station Chowari for the registration of an FIR. Based on the rukka, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act, and further investigation is underway.
