Shimla: Rotaract Club, HPNLU Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, conducted a Cervical Cancer Awareness Drive on 17th November at Government Senior Secondary School, Halog, Dhami. The programme focused on sensitizing school students about cervical cancer, its causes, symptoms, treatment options, and the crucial role of preventive measures such as regular screening, HPV vaccination, safe sexual practices, and personal hygiene. The drive featured an expert session, interactive participation from students, and the distribution of prizes through a concluding quiz activity.
The awareness programme was graced by Dr. Tania Sahai, who served as the guest speaker and addressed the gathering with an insightful and accessible presentation on cervical cancer as one of the most preventable yet widespread health concerns among women. She emphasized the importance of early detection and routine health check-ups, encouraging students to act as carriers of awareness within their families and communities.
The initiative was successfully carried out by the Rotaract Club, coordinated by Dr. Hari Chand (Club Coordinator). HPNLU, Shimla remains committed to promoting health literacy and social empowerment through sustained outreach programmes and collaborations with community institutions.
