BILASPUR: In a significant outreach initiative aimed at improving rheumatological care in remote regions, a team of specialist doctors from the Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, AIIMS Bilaspur, conducted a comprehensive Arthritis Screening Camp at the District Disability and Rehabilitation Centre, Regional Hospital Kullu. The camp was organized in collaboration with the District Red Cross Society, Kullu, under the guidance and patronage of Lt Gen (Dr) Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), Executive Director, AIIMS Bilaspur.
Around 90 patients suffering from arthritis and joint-related ailments received specialized medical attention from Dr. Ankita Dewangan and Dr. A. P. Nirmal. Several patients were diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, and other rheumatological conditions, and were provided appropriate medications, counselling, and guidance for long-term management.
To ensure holistic health assessment, the camp also offered free blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, and bone density evaluation, providing patients with a complete screening experience. Patient registration and coordination were managed efficiently by Ms. Jyoti Kupwan, ensuring smooth flow and timely consultation for all attendees.
Patients requiring detailed evaluation or continued management were advised follow-up visits at the Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology OPD at AIIMS Bilaspur, where advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities are available.
The Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Red Cross Society, Kullu, for their proactive cooperation and support, which contributed significantly to the successful execution of the camp.
The initiative reaffirmed AIIMS Bilaspur’s commitment to extending quality healthcare to underserved areas and strengthening community health through regular outreach and specialized medical services.
