47th AIESCB Football Tournament Kicks Off in Patiala

Patiala: The 47th Two-Day All India Electricity Sports Control Board (AIESCB) Football Tournament began today at the PSPCL Sports Complex, bringing together leading power sector teams from across the country for a high-energy sporting contest.

 
 

The tournament was inaugurated with a welcome address by Er. Lal Prit Singh, Deputy Chief Engineer, who wished success to all participating teams and emphasized the event’s role in fostering sportsmanship, discipline, and unity among power sector employees. “Such events not only promote physical fitness but also strengthen professional camaraderie and teamwork,” he said.

 
 

CA S.K. Beri, Director (Administration/Finance), PSPCL, served as the Chief Guest. He hoisted the tournament flag and witnessed a vibrant march past by the competing teams. In his address, he expressed pride in Patiala hosting the national tournament. “Football teaches resilience, coordination, and the spirit of never giving up. I’m confident this event will inspire excellence and promote healthy competition,” he said before officially declaring the tournament open.

Teams participating this year include the Haryana Power Sports GroupPSPCL PatialaMP PowerBihar SPHCRajasthan VNTelangana Genco, and squads from Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, promising two days of competitive and entertaining matches.

AIESCB office bearers Naresh Kumar (General Secretary), Sajjan Kumar (Advisor), Pankaj Dadwal (Advisor), and Anil Kumar (Sports Secretary) were also present and lauded PSPCL for successfully hosting the event.
