Shimla:BJP state senior spokesperson Trilok Kapoor accused the Himachal Pradesh Congress government of merely re-inaugurating development projects initiated by the previous BJP administration for political gain. He said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is continuously taking credit for schemes and works conceived and executed during the BJP government.
Kapoor said that the recently inaugurated helicopter service in Kangra is a clear example of this trend. He stated that the Kangra heliport project was approved by the BJP-led central government and its foundation stone was laid during the tenure of former chief minister Jairam Thakur. “The Jairam Thakur government pushed this project forward with speed, and today the Congress government is presenting it as its own achievement to mislead the public,” he said.
Highlighting the earlier BJP government's initiatives, Kapoor said that expanding tourism and connectivity in a hilly state like Himachal was a priority. Projects such as the Dharamshala Smart City initiative, tourism infrastructure upgrades, new road construction and efforts to improve air connectivity were all part of the BJP government’s vision. “The Congress government is merely rebranding these same projects and projecting them as new accomplishments,” he added.
Kapoor alleged that Chief Minister Sukhu is focused more on publicity-driven politics rather than real groundwork, and is trying to mislead the public by showcasing the previous government’s achievements as his own. He said the people of Himachal are well aware that the development visible today stems from the BJP government’s planning and execution. “The Congress government has neither new schemes nor new ideas—only the desire to take political advantage by re-laying foundations of old works,” Kapoor said.
He concluded that the BJP will continue countering such misleading claims with facts and will ensure that the public remains informed about the genuine development carried out in the state.
