PM Modi performs evening Maha Aarti at Brahma Sarovar amidst Vedic chanting

Chandigarh– Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi on Tuesday performed the evening Maha Aarti on the sacred banks of Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra, amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras, during the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav 2025. He prayed for the progress and prosperity of all citizens and formally inaugurated the Maha Aarti by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The Prime Minister’s visit marked a significant and historic moment for Kurukshetra. Under his guidance, the Haryana Government has been continuously organizing the International Gita Mahotsav to spread the universal message of the Bhagavad Gita across the world.

 

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also posed for a commemorative photograph with members of the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) and researchers from various countries, in front of the divine chariots of Lord Shri Krishna and Arjuna. Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini were also present for the photograph. After viewing the Brahma Sarovar, the Prime Minister participated in the Maha Aarti programme held at Brahma Sarovar Purushottampura Bagh.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that Lord Krishna delivered the holy message of the Gita to the world from the sacred land of Kurukshetra. He said that the timeless message of the Gita remains relevant globally even today, giving Kurukshetra a unique spiritual identity. He added that the International Gita Mahotsav, organized every year by the Kurukshetra Development Board and the Department of Information, Public Relations and Languages along with various other organizations, is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm on this holy land. Witnessing the evening Maha Aarti, he said, is a deeply enriching experience.

 

Extending his greetings to the people on the occasion of the International Gita Mahotsav, Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi said that the world received the divine knowledge of the Gita from Jyotisar, the sacred site in Kurukshetra. The profound wisdom of the Gita, he stated, offers solutions to every human challenge. Reciting its verses not only brings peace to the mind but also elevates one’s spiritual understanding.
