GMDA approves Rs 1,894-crore budget for development works

Gurugram: The 10th meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today. During the meeting, a budget proposal of Rs 1,894 crore was approved for the financial year 2022-23.


Detailed discussions on various agendas, including increasing the capacity of water treatment plant, strengthening the network of water drainage and master sewer line, and CCTV surveillance among others, were discussed. Discussions also took place regarding connecting leg 2 and leg 3 with Najafgarh drain and construction of a dam on the drain.


As per the plans, high-quality CCTV cameras will be installed at 258 locations in the second phase of the project. For this, the captive optical fiber network will have to be expanded by about 300 km. The project will cost around Rs 99.93 crore.
A 100-MLD capacity water treatment plant and 90 MLD capacity water treatment plant will be set up in Chandu and Basai, respectively.


The approval for the same was given during the meeting. An estimated amount of Rs 295 crore will be spent on setting up these two treatment plants. The work will be completed in three years. Under the master sewerage scheme, the sewerage system will also be strengthened and STPs will be set up in Baharampur and Naurangpur.


During the meeting, approval Rs 124.70 crore was also given to the project of laying master stormwater drainage network for rainwater drainage in Sector 68 to 80, Sector 37C and 37D and Sector 112 to 115 of Gurugram. A centralised integrated water management system will also be implemented.


Besides, it was agreed to prepare a detailed project report of the centralised integrated water management system project under the Smart City initiative. The project will cost about Rs 18 crore.
