Congress Government's Schemes Limited to Paper: Vishav Chakshu

SANJAY AGGARWAL
DHARAMSHALA: Himachal Pradesh BJP State Media Co-in-charge, Advocate Vishav Chakshu, has cited the case of 94-year-old Bhagwan Das Sharma from the Thana Bargran 'Sunhi' area of Kangra district, who has not received his old-age pension for the past five months, as a living example of the Congress government's inhumane and insensitive working style. Advocate Vishav Chakshu said that the same elderly people whose respect and security the Sukhu government talks so much about from public platforms are now forced to depend on others for medicines, rations, and daily necessities.

This is not just the plight of Bhagwan Das Sharma, but a horrific picture of the injustice being done to pensioners across the state. He said that continuous complaints are coming from several districts, including Kangra, Mandi, Una, Sirmaur, Chamba, and Hamirpur, where elderly pensioners are not receiving their pensions for months. In some places, technical glitches are being cited as an excuse, while in others, files are gathering dust in offices. Many elderly people are forced to make rounds of panchayats, tehsils, and social welfare offices, but the government remains oblivious.

He said that this situation proves that the Congress government's social security schemes have remained limited to paper and advertisements. There is neither any monitoring at the ground level nor the courage to take action against the responsible officials. He warned that if all pending pension cases in the state, including that of 94-year-old Bhagwan Das Sharma, are not resolved immediately and strict action is not taken against the guilty officials, the Bharatiya Janata Party will launch a decisive movement against this anti-elderly attitude, from the streets to the legislature.
