DHARAMSHALA: To ensure Himachal Pradesh's participation in the national-level Dragon Boat Race competition, state-level trials are being organized on December 21, 2015. These trials will be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Kayaking and Canoeing Association at Govind Sagar Lake. The trials will include Dragon Boat events for senior and junior men's and women's categories. The association has clarified that only participants from Himachal Pradesh will be allowed to participate. The state's Dragon Boat team will be selected through these trials.
Association coach Shyam Lal and General Secretary Dr. Padam Singh Guleria informed that the players selected in the state trials will participate in the 14th National Senior and Junior Men's and Women's Dragon Boat Race competition, organized by the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association from January 6 to 9, 2016. This competition will be held at Chhota Talab in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.
They further stated that all players participating in the state trials must report to the Water Sports Centre, Bilaspur, at 10:00 AM on December 21st and must be proficient swimmers. They also added that the association is continuously striving to keep young people away from drugs and encourage them to participate in sports, especially water sports. They appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs, actively participate in sports, and bring glory to the state.
