Una: To streamline and improve traffic management in Amb, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has issued orders declaring major stretches of the Amb market area as no-parking and no-vending zones. The orders have been issued under Sections 115 and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and will come into force with immediate effect until further notice.
According to the orders, a nearly 500-metre stretch on the Mubarikpur–Una road, from Maharana Pratap Degree College Amb to Mango Hotel, has been declared a no-parking and no-vending zone on both sides of the road. However, two designated bus stops have been earmarked for passenger boarding and deboarding. On the Una-bound side, only one bus at a time will be allowed to stop near the rain shelter, while on the Mubarikpur-bound side, a maximum of three buses at a time will be permitted to stop near Gautam Medical Store in front of the bus stand.
Similarly, a stretch of about 300 metres on the Amb–Hamirpur road, from Amb Chowk to Police Station Amb, has also been declared a no-parking and no-vending zone. On this route, buses heading towards Nadaun will be allowed to stop for passenger movement near Ganpati Jewellers, with only one bus permitted at a time.
In addition, a 60-metre stretch on the Amb Chowk–Athwan road, from Amb Chowk up to near Shri Ravidas Temple, has also been brought under the no-parking and no-vending zone.
The Deputy Commissioner said that no vehicle parking, rehri-fari or any form of temporary vending activity will be allowed in these areas. He warned that violations would invite strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and other relevant laws. The local police and transport department have been directed to ensure strict and effective enforcement of the orders.
He explained that illegal parking and unauthorised vending had been obstructing the free flow of traffic, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and increasing road safety risks. The decision has been taken to ensure smooth traffic movement, public convenience and better traffic discipline in the area.
It is noteworthy that similar traffic and parking management measures have already been implemented by the district administration in Una city and other subdivisions of the district to ensure orderly markets, safer pedestrian movement and efficient traffic regulation.
