HAMRIPUR: Former Himachal Pradesh Food Supplies Minister Rajender Garg has levelled serious allegations against the state government, claiming that it is preparing to transfer government land worth thousands of crores to private builders through the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority).
Addressing mediapersons in Ghumarwin, Rajender Garg alleged that the move, if implemented, would amount to a major misuse of public resources and compromise the interests of the common people. He said that HIMUDA was constituted to facilitate planned urban development and provide affordable housing, but the alleged proposal to hand over vast tracts of government land to private builders goes against the very objective of the authority.
The former minister demanded a clear and public response from the concerned departmental minister, stating that the people of Himachal Pradesh deserve transparency on how and why such valuable public land is proposed to be allotted. He warned that such decisions could have long-term consequences for urban planning and public welfare in the state.
Rajender Garg said the opposition would continue to raise the issue at all appropriate forums to ensure that government land is safeguarded and utilised strictly in public interest.
