Chandigarh: Hon’ble Haryana Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Saturday stressed the need for emulating the teachings of great Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda for the well being of all. Governor Prof Ghosh was speaking as the Chief Guest at the birth anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Chandigarh.

Lady Governor Smt Mitra Ghosh ji was also present on the occasion along with Swami Bhitiharananda ji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Chandigarh and other functionaries of the Ashram.

Delving deep into socio-economic, political and spiritual challenges faced by India during the era of Swami Ramkrishna Paramhans, Haryana Governor Prof Ghosh said that two great souls used religion as a means to empower people spiritually in a holistic manner so that the best could come out from them.

“For Swami Ramkrishna Paramhans and Swami Vivekananda, religion was a means to serve humanity and bring the good out from them to ensure that they lead a meaningful life as per the highest standards of Hinduism, which is rooted in values central to humanity,” said Prof Ghosh.

Recalling the famous speech of Swami Vivekananda at Chicago where he presented an entirely different perspective of religion, focussing on great Indian culture and civilization, Hon’ble Governor said: “His teachings primarily encourage us to serve humanity in a selfless manner.”

“Swami Vivekananda believed that God is present in every living soul, especially in the poor, the weak and the suffering. This philosophy inspired his call to serve man as God, urging people to express spirituality through compassion, selfless service and respect for human dignity. By seeing God in all human beings, he promoted universal brotherhood, social equality and the idea that true religion lies in uplifting others,” said Hon’ble Governor Prof Ghosh.
