New Delhi: S. Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, today disclosed that a constructive and forward-looking meeting was held here with the Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation, Shri Keshav Chandra with a DSGMC delegation.
S.Kalka said that the meeting focused on comprehensive development, enhancement, and beautification works at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, and other historic Sikh Gurdwaras situated in the national capital. DSGMC & NDMC engaged in detailed deliberations with the shared objective of preserving the spiritual sanctity, historical heritage, and religious dignity of these sacred shrines, while simultaneously upgrading civic amenities and infrastructure for the convenience of devotees and visitors.
S.Harmeet Singh Kalka emphasized that the proposed initiatives aim to improve facilities such as cleanliness, landscaping, lighting, pedestrian access, and overall aesthetic appeal, without compromising the revered character and religious ethos of the holy sites. s.Kalka also highlighted that these Gurdwaras are not only spiritual centers for the Sikh community but also significant symbols of India’s rich cultural and historical legacy.
NDMC Chairman, Shri Keshav Chandra assured full cooperation and expressed the Council’s commitment to working in close coordination with the DSGMC to ensure planned, sensitive, and sustainable development around the historic Gurdwaras.
S. Kalka described the meeting as highly positive and constructive, stating that such collaborative efforts between civic authorities and religious institutions would go a long way in enhancing the experience of devotees while safeguarding the sanctity and heritage of Delhi’s historic Sikh shrines.
