Congress Busy Fighting Over the Chair, Punjab's Real Issues Completely Ignored: Akshay Sharma

July 03, 2026 07:44 PM

Amritsar: BJP leader from Amritsar North Assembly constituency, Akshay Sharma, launched a sharp attack on the Punjab Congress, stating that the meeting held at the residence of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has exposed the party's deep internal factionalism. He said that after Amarinder Singh Raja Warring was retained as the Punjab Congress President, the party now stands divided into two clear factions.

Akshay Sharma said that while Congress leaders are claiming they will form the next government in Punjab, they remain preoccupied with the race for the Chief Minister's chair and internal leadership battles. He added that in this power struggle, the real issues concerning Punjab and its people have been completely sidelined.

"Leaders who are unable to keep their own party united cannot be expected to govern Punjab effectively. Congress today is trapped in a leadership crisis and internal infighting," Sharma said.

He further stated that the people of Punjab are seeking answers on crucial issues such as development, employment, law and order, and the drug menace, but the Congress leadership is busy with internal politics instead of addressing public concerns. According to Sharma, this is the primary reason why the public's trust in Congress continues to decline.

Akshay Sharma also remarked that Congress has always been plagued by internal power struggles, which is one of the reasons the Bharatiya Janata Party has continued to gain public support across the country. He asserted that the people of Punjab have now realized that the BJP is the only party capable of ensuring the state's progress and development, and expressed confidence that in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, voters will support the BJP and put Punjab back on the path of growth and prosperity.
