SAS Nagar: MLA SAS Nagar-Mohali, Kulwant Singh, today handed over appointment letters to nine newly appointed Anganwadi Workers during a function held at his office in Sector 79, Mohali. Congratulating the appointees, he wished them success in their careers and expressed confidence that they would discharge their responsibilities with dedication, sincerity and commitment.
Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, the MLA said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and the Aam Aadmi Party, led by its National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, has been consistently fulfilling the promises and guarantees made to the people. He said that one of the government's foremost commitments was to provide employment to unemployed youth and that nearly 70,000 regular government jobs have been provided on the basis of merit.
He further stated that the recruitment process carried out during the last four and a quarter years has remained transparent and free from disputes. He informed that of the nine Anganwadi Workers who received appointment letters today, three belong to village Sohana, while the remaining are from Kumbra, Maujpur, Chilla and Badmajra.
Commenting on the Opposition, Kulwant Singh said that opposition leaders have no substantive issues to raise against the achievements and welfare initiatives of the government and are therefore attempting to mislead the public through baseless allegations and misinformation. He claimed that previous governments had failed to address the aspirations of the people, whereas the present government has been implementing people-centric policies effectively.
Referring to the 'Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana', the MLA said that financial assistance under the scheme has started reaching the bank accounts of eligible women and that the process will continue as registrations are completed. He appealed to eligible beneficiaries not to have any apprehensions regarding the implementation of the scheme.
Speaking about the ongoing monsoon season, he said that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure that residents do not face any inconvenience.
Sharing an update on the proposed Medical College in Mohali, the MLA said that all formalities relating to the land for the project have been completed. He informed that the boundary wall has already been constructed and work on the students' hostels has commenced. The construction of the main Medical College building will also begin shortly, he added.
