Chandigarh: Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) celebrated the 80th Independence Day at its Secretariat Office in Chandigarh with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. BBMB Chairman Shri Manoj Tripathi unfurled the National Flag, following which officers and employees collectively sang ‘Vande Mataram’ and the National Anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana’.
Children of the BBMB family presented a vibrant cultural programme featuring patriotic songs and captivating dance performances based on freedom, valour and patriotism. Officers and employees also participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman highlighted the significance of Independence Day and urged everyone to work with dedication, sincerity and mutual cooperation for the unity, integrity and progress of the nation. He stressed the need for continuous skill development and the judicious use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in official work to improve efficiency and keep pace with changing times.
He informed that efforts are underway to get the BBMB Hospital at Talwara adopted by AIIMS or PGI Chandigarh. He also said that steps are being taken to promote tourism in the Bhakra-Nangal area through the construction of a three-storey museum at Nangal.
The Chairman further informed that the BBMB School at Pandoh has been successfully upgraded, with student strength now reaching approximately 250. He also announced that a cashless health facility has been made available for the benefit of serving BBMB employees.
At the conclusion of the programme, the Chairman presented prizes to the children who participated in the cultural programme, appreciating their enthusiastic performances and encouraging their talent.
