Chandigarh/Amritsar: Jagroop Rupa and Manpreet Manu, gangsters involved in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewla, have been killed in an encounter with the police at a village in Amritsar district on Wednesday. Anti-Gangster Task Force officials confirmed that the encounter has ended. The encounter took place at Bhakna Kalan village in the Amritsar rural belt. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav also reached the encounter spot.

Police had received inputs of Rupa and Manu being present there. The two belonged to the Jaggu Bhaganpuria gang. Bhaganpuria had provided these shooters to Lawrence Bishnoi for the Moosewala killing. These two had evaded the police for 52 days.

Three cops were also injured in the encounter. They were taken to hospital. Police had asked the gangsters hiding in a building to surrender. The area was cordoned off and the locals told to stay indoors.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29. A CCTV footage recently surfaced showing Rupa and Manu riding a bike at Samalsar in Moga district on June 21.

Police have identified six shooters who were part of the two modules involved in the killing. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police had earlier nabbed three shooters -- Priyavrat Fauji, Kashish and Ankit Sirsa. Jagroop Singh Rupa and Manpreet Singh alias Manu were part of the second module.

It is believed that Manu had fired at Moosewala with an AK-47 rifle. Manu and Rupa were in a Toyota Corolla car which was trailing Moosewala's vehicle at Jawahar Ke village in Mansa district on May 29. After committing the crime, Manu and Rupa had snatched a car which was later found abandoned in Moga district. (With Agency Inputs)
