NEW DELHI: Indian Railways has approved ₹252 crore for the deployment of Kavach Version 4.0 across 607.7 route kilometres of the Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway.
The project will extend Kavach 4.0 coverage to the identified remaining sections of the division, further strengthening safety infrastructure for train operations.

Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system designed to enhance operational safety and support safer train movement.

The system helps prevent Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) and can automatically apply brakes when required. It also monitors train operations to assist in maintaining safe movement of trains.

The latest approval is part of Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to expand Kavach deployment across its network and modernise train protection systems.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the safety and reliability of railway operations through indigenous technology.
