Faridkot:On the occasion of Baba Farid Aagman Purab, the Misl Satluj Party organised the 3rd Sardar Charat Singh Shooting Cup from September 18 to 21 at the Shooting Range, Nehru Stadium, Faridkot.
On the second day, Misl Satluj Party President Sardar Ajaypal Singh Brar bless and interact with the participating shooters. He said the growing enthusiasm for shooting among players has made the this sports event increasingly popular every year. He added that this year shooters from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh participated with great enthusiasm, giving the event a wider national character and providing young talent a common platform to showcase their skills.
Brar said Sardar Charat Singh Shukarchakia’s name is synonymous with courage, bravery, foresight and exceptional marksmanship in sikh history. He described him as not only a great warrior but also a visionary dikh general who displayed courage, strategic wisdom and outstanding martial skills in challenging circumstances.
He noted that Charat Singh’s mastery of marksmanship was a distinctive aspect of his personality and that historian Sardar Rattan Singh Bhangu also referred to his shooting prowess in Sri Gur Panth Prakash. Brar also said commemorating his legacy through shooting is a meaningful way to connect young people with their history.
He added that Charat Singh’s life teaches that a target is achieved not merely through a weapon, but through determination, discipline and concentration. The purpose of organising the cup is therefore not only competition but also to connect youth with Sikh heritage and nurture sporting talent. Shooting develops patience, focus, mental balance, discipline and confidence.
General Secretary Davinder Singh Sekhon said Punjab has always produced brave warriors and talented sportspersons. He said sports channel youthful energy constructively and assured that Misl Satluj would continue encouraging such initiatives. While congratulating all participants, he said true success lies in refining talent, maintaining discipline and learning from every competition.
He expressed hope that the championship would grow further and attract emerging shooters from across the country.
Amrinder Singh Tur, Ranpinderjit Singh Goldy, Hardev Singh Ghaniye Wala, Sukhraj Singh, Gurmeet Singh Sulhani, Tajinder Singh Kassoana, Harjinder Singh Sahota, Karan Singh, Sukhjinder Singh Rai, Gurprem Singh Saran, Jasnoor Singh Brar, Jaspreet Singh Minta, Jatinder Singh Sahota, Yatanjit Singh, Vicky Grover, Rajpal Singh Sandhu, Mintu Deep Singh Wala and Gary Sandhu were also present.
