SOP will be prepared in respect of all drug de-addiction centres of the state- Health Minister

Chandigarh: Haryana Home and Health Minister, Sh Anil Vij said that SOP will be sent to all the districts regarding the establishment of rehabilitation centres i.e. de-addiction centres in order to help people get rid of addiction. This SOP will be prepared within the next 15 days under the supervision of the Director General, Health Services Department.

Sh. Vij was presiding over the meeting of officers of the Home and Health Department here today. He said that norms would be set for number of prescribed beds, deployment of staff, drugs related to de-addiction etc for establishment of de-addiction centres in every civil hospital.

Sh. Vij directed the officers to implement the directions given by the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister during the Police Conference held in Lucknow last week.

He said that an online meeting of the nodal officers of the districts related to drugs/substances i.e. DSP and District Social Justice and Empowerment Officers would be convened soon.

App regarding medicine prescription related to drugs is being developed-Vij

Sh. Vij said that an app is also being developed in regard to the prescription for the sale of some drugs at chemist shops so that the youth cannot buy such drugs again and again on the same prescription. Directing the officers, Sh. Vij said that the private de-addiction centres operating in the state should be inspected from time to time and after checking a report should be presented.

Social and religious institutions will be invoked to fight addiction

He said that by organizing social and religious institutions, awareness campaigns would be launched through various mediums to get rid of addiction.

Officers should make a special plan to break the chain of supply of drugs - Vij

He directed the officers to work on a primary plan/strategy to eliminate drugs from the state so that drug addiction can be eradicated. The chain of supply and demand of drugs has to be broken and in this direction the police and health department as well as the officers of other related departments will have to move ahead in a planned manner. Publicity and dissemination will have to be done against drugs in every village and in this regard, officers of Social Justice and Empowerment Department should take the lead in this matter.

During the meeting, Sh. Vij was apprised by the officers that recently the properties of people involved in drug dealing have been attached in Kurukshetra and we have to focus on this so that people do not indulge in this drug business. During the meeting, the Director General of Police informed that in the coming days, on the lines of Kurukshetra, such action would be implemented by the Police and Narcotic Control Bureau in other districts as well.

During the meeting, Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau Chief and ADGP, Sh. Shrikant Jadhav apprised the Home Minister that 10 lakh drug pills have been caught this year, but these drugs are easily available at the medical store, so we can solve this problem by developing an app.

He said that the Bureau has organized 325 awareness camps so far. In Sirsa, Fatehabad, Kaithal, Rohtak, Faridabad and Karnal, more people involved in drug dealing have been caught. Apart from this, he also shared his suggestions during the meeting to enable Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau and also gave information through power point presentation.

During the meeting, the Home Minister said that the way Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police has made eight people free from drug addiction in his district with the help of NGO, similarly this exercise should be carried out in other districts as well.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Health, Sh. Rajeev Arora, Director General of Police, Sh. P.K. Agrawal, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Sh. Navdeep Singh Virk and Additional Director General of Police (CID), Sh. Alok Mittal, Additional Director General of Police (HSNCB), Sh. Shrikant Jadhav, Additional Director General of Police, Sh. O.P. Singh, Secretary Home Department, Sh. Balkar Singh, Director General of Health Department, Dr. Veena Singh, Director of Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Sh. Rajnarayan Kaushik and other officers were present.
