Amritsar: In a major breakthrough against cross‑border narco‑terror networks, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled two narcotics cartels and arrested six traffickers, recovering a total of 9.066 kg of heroin, according to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Preliminary inquiry indicates that foreign‑based Harpreet alias Happy Jatt of Jandiala Guru, a notorious gangster, maintained direct links with Pakistan‑based smugglers and operated the network through social media platforms.
First Information Reports have been registered at Police Station Chheharta, Amritsar, and further investigation is underway to trace wider networks, financial trails, and cross‑border linkages in both cases.
Reiterating the force’s stance, the DGP said Punjab Police remains committed to eliminating drug trafficking and safeguarding communities across the state.
