BILASPUR: A high-level review meeting was held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Bilaspur to evaluate the progress and utilization of assets developed through the Post Office Small Savings Prize Funds. The meeting was chaired by Prakash Chand Karad, Vice Chairman of the National Savings State Advisory Board, Himachal Pradesh, and attended by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar along with senior officials and agents linked to the small savings initiatives.
In his address, Prakash Chand Karad emphasized the importance of ensuring effective management of all assets created under the scheme. He directed officials to recover pending rents from properties developed through these funds and called for prompt redressal of issues faced by the five outstanding agents associated with the Post Office Small Savings Schemes. He also urged the Deputy Commissioner to organize regular meetings with small savings agents to address their concerns in a time-bound manner.
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar informed that nine assets have been developed in Jukhaala, 18 in Ghumarwin, three in Lakhanpur, and three in Bilaspur city, all financed by the prize funds. These include facilities such as canteens, Vyas Sadan buildings, and savings offices, which are contributing to community infrastructure. A new savings building has also been constructed in Ghumarwin to further support the initiative.
He added that the Post Office has installed LED videowalls at multiple locations across the district to promote awareness of small savings schemes among the public. The meeting also reviewed the rental assessment, timely rent collection, annual agreements, and the District Savings and Service Committee Fund’s income and expenditure from 2022-23 to 2024-25.
The Deputy Commissioner assured that the process of rescheduling property rentals has already commenced. Officials including Assistant Controller of Finance and Accounts Shashi Kant Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, and agents Rukmini Devi, Usha Kumari, Kiran, Rajendra Singh, and Roshan Lal were present during the session.
