Bathinda: Amritpal Singh Mehron, the alleged mastermind behind the sensational murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as "Kamal Kaur Bhabi," has been arrested in Dubai (UAE). Following his arrest, the main accused was extradited to Punjab under international legal protocols. Police sources have confirmed that a team from the Bathinda Police took custody of the accused from UAE authorities. He was brought from Chandigarh Airport to Bathinda and will be produced in court today.

Kanchan Kumari was murdered in June 2025. The influencer was lured to Bathinda on the pretext of a promotional event and was strangled to death on the night of June 9-10.
According to the Bathinda Police, Mehron fled the country within hours of the crime with the assistance of an individual named Ranjit Singh. He boarded a flight to the UAE from Amritsar International Airport on the morning of June 10, 2025, fearing the issuance of a Look-Out Circular (LOC) against him.

While the Bathinda Police had previously arrested his two accomplices, Mehron had remained at large. A Bathinda court had initiated proceedings to declare him a Proclaimed Offender (PO), and efforts for his extradition were coordinated through central agencies and Interpol. The police had faced criticism for the delay in Mehron's arrest, but officials maintained that their persistent efforts would eventually lead to a breakthrough.
