Discussion on Dharamshala Airport Expansion and Issues at Shimla Airport: Anurag Thakur

DHARAMSHALA: Union Minister and Member of Parliament from the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, actively participated in discussions with senior officials from various central ministries, the Government of Himachal Pradesh, and concerned organizations during a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC 2025-26) held today in Dharamshala. During the meeting with the Ministry of Tourism and the Himachal Pradesh government, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur discussed various key tourism projects in the state, including the redevelopment of the Chintpurni Temple under the 'Swadesh Darshan 2.0' scheme.

He emphasized the effective implementation of these projects to strengthen tourism infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh and to promote cultural and religious tourism. Additionally, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur held discussions with state tourism officials regarding issues related to adventure tourism. In a meeting involving the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NHAI, NHIDCL, and other agencies, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur addressed issues concerning the imposition and regulation of tolls, tariffs, and user charges on public infrastructure and roads within Himachal Pradesh.

He also raised the issue regarding the road tax recently implemented by the state of Himachal. Furthermore, during discussions with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, DGCA, AAI, and other stakeholders regarding the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), Shri Anurag Singh Thakur highlighted the need for the expansion of Dharamshala Airport and raised concerns regarding the ongoing operational issues at Shimla Airport, with a view to enhancing air connectivity in the region.
