Bilaspur: A young talent from AIIMS Bilaspur has brought national recognition to the institution. A second-year postgraduate resident Dr Dipesh Prasad, from the Department of Radiology, secured first prize in the highly competitive e-poster category at a prestigious Interventional Radiology CME organized by the Delhi NCR Chapter of Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, held in New Delhi on April 25–26.
His award-winning presentation, “Safeguarding the Brain: Early Experience with Embolic Protection Devices in Carotid Artery Stenting from the Northern Himalayan Region,” showcased cutting-edge advancements in neurointerventional radiology. The work highlighted how embolic protection devices significantly enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes, reflecting the department’s growing expertise in advanced minimally invasive procedures.
Beyond this achievement, Dr Prasad further demonstrated academic excellence by presenting an oral paper on peripheral arterial disease and another e-poster on endovascular repair of a complex arterial rupture—underlining the department’s comprehensive capabilities.
This success was achieved under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr Resham Singh while the visionary leadership of Lt Gen Dr Daljit Singh and the guidance of Head of Department Dr Narvir Singh Chauhan played a pivotal role.
The accomplishment marks a significant milestone in establishing AIIMS Bilaspur as a rising center of excellence in interventional radiology, reaffirming its commitment to innovation, academic brilliance, and delivering world-class healthcare to the region.
