Shimla: Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3rd December 2025 with two impactful initiatives— the launch of Samvaad 2.0 by the Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies (CHRDS) and a public Nukkad Natak at the Amphitheatre on Mall Road.
CHRDS released Samvaad 2.0, a significant publication focused on the rights, challenges, and lived experiences of persons with disabilities. The release was formally conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, who appreciated the Centre’s sustained efforts to promote meaningful scholarship and awareness in the domain of human rights and disability studies.
To mark the day, CHRDS also organised a powerful Nukkad Natak on Mall Road, highlighting important themes such as disability, depression, ADHD, and autism. Performed by university students, the act shed light on visible and invisible disabilities, addressing issues of stigma, social exclusion, and lack of public awareness. The performance drew a large audience and encouraged viewers to embrace empathy, sensitivity, and inclusivity.
The initiatives reinforced HPNLU’s and CHRDS’s ongoing commitment to promoting human rights, accessibility, and informed public discourse on disability-related issues.
