IIIT Una: Phase-1 of the Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp for Principals and Teachers of PM SHRI Schools is being conducted from 17th to 19th December 2025 at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Una, Himachal Pradesh.
The three-day bootcamp is being organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), in collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation, which is widely recognized for its work in entrepreneurship education.
The IDE Bootcamp aims to nurture innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurial skills among school teachers and principals identified as innovation ambassadors. Through a mix of group activities, immersive working sessions, and hands-on workshops, participants are trained to adopt a human-centric approach to identify opportunities, apply design thinking tools, and develop customer-centric products and services.
The programme also introduces the fundamentals of business model development and basic financial assessment, guiding participants through the “why, what, and how” of innovation with strong emphasis on practical application within classrooms and school ecosystems.
Phase-1 of the IDE Bootcamp is being conducted across 13 States, following a state-wise implementation model. In Himachal Pradesh, Phase-1 is being conducted exclusively at IIIT Una, making it the only higher
education institution in the state to host the IDE Bootcamp during this phase. Around 190 Principals and Teachers from all the 12 districts form Himachal Pradesh are participating in the programme.
The bootcamp was jointly inaugurated at the national level by Prof. Sitharam T.G., Chairman, AICTE; Shri Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy; and Dr. Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman, AICTE. The state-level inauguration at IIIT Una was held in the presence of Prof. Manish Gaur, Director, IIIT Una, who served as the Chief Guest, and Shri Vidhikar Vishal, Representative from AICTE, who attended as the Guest of Honour, along with senior officials from the host institute.
On 17th December, expert sessions were conducted by Dr. Sachin Gupta and Ms. Gauri Gopinath from the Wadhwani Foundation, who led interactive discussions and activities focused on innovation mindset, design thinking frameworks, and entrepreneurial problem-solving in the school education context.
By hosting the IDE Bootcamp, IIIT Una reinforces its commitment to supporting national education reforms, strengthening innovation capacity at the school level, and contributing to the development of future-ready educators equipped with design and entrepreneurial thinking skills.
