Karnal-Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saloni Sharma took stock of the progress of the construction works by conducting a surprise inspection of the under construction commercial space project located in the old grain market of the city. During this, she instructed the officials of the construction agency and engineering branch to complete the work with quality within the time limit.
During the inspection, she gave clear instructions to the representative of the construction agency that adequate number of workers should be available at the project site, so that the progress of work is clearly visible every day. She said that no compromise on quality would be accepted in the construction work. She directed the Executive Engineer to conduct regular inspections and ensure effective monitoring for timely completion of the project. Besides, the concerned Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer were also directed to continuously monitor the site and review the work at each stage.
She directed that special attention should be paid to the quality, safety standards and completion of project on time. While directing the construction agency to accelerate the pace of the project, she said that this was one of the important development projects of the city, hence adhering to the stipulated time limit should be the top priority. On this, the agency representative assured that the construction work of the project will be completed in the month of October. He said that the civil structure of the building was almost ready and currently the interior and electrical works were being done at a fast pace. On this, the Municipal Commissioner said that the actual progress of the work would be evaluated by inspecting the project again after about a fortnight. She clarified that every stage of the construction work will be reviewed regularly so that the project can be dedicated to the general public on time.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner said that under the project, a two-level (double basement) modern parking has been constructed, in which parking facility for 188 four-wheelers will be available. A total of 64 commercial shops are being developed on the ground floor and first floor of the building. A modern restaurant and food court is being constructed on the second floor and a gaming zone on the third floor, due to which this complex will emerge as an overall center of business, food and entertainment.
She informed that a cost of approximately Rs 27.95 crore is being spent on this ambitious project. The special thing is that the construction agency will also operate and maintain the building for the next five years, due to which the citizens will get better facilities and well-organized management for a long time. She said that after the completion of the project, Karnal city would get a modern and well-organized business complex, which will boost business activities and provide better business opportunities to local businessmen. The modern parking system will also provide considerable relief to the problem of traffic and parking in the market area.
She said that with the development of facilities like food court and gaming zone, a new attraction center would be created in the city for families, youth and children. This will also create new employment opportunities at the local level, boost business and also increase the income of the Municipal Corporation.
