On the completion of three years of the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party Himachal Pradesh organized a massive protest at Zorawar Stadium, Dharamshala, with the slogan "Three Years of System Collapse, Change, Change the Corrupt Congress Government."
This historic protest was led by BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal. Thousands of workers and common people were present, clearly sending the message that the people of the state are now fed up with this failed and corrupt government. Addressing the rally organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party against the failures of the Sukhu government, Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur said that in its three-year tenure, this government has not a single scheme to show. Forget the public, even the Congress MLAs don't remember the name of a single scheme. Because they haven't implemented a single scheme, how will they know the names? This failed government has shut down dozens of schemes launched by our government. Today, Congress MLAs cannot look the people of the state in the eye, they cannot answer their phones.
Because the people of the state say that if you don't want to run your own schemes, then don't, but don't shut down the old ones. Let us get treatment through Himcare, let our daughters get married through Shagun and Kanyadaan schemes. Don't snatch away our cylinders under the Grihini Suvidha scheme, don't snatch away self-employment under the Swavalamban scheme. Don't make us helpless by snatching away the Sahara scheme. If you don't want to give new schools and colleges, then don't, but don't snatch away more than two thousand old institutions from us. For the first time in the state, there is a government from which people are not even asking for anything new, but are simply requesting that existing facilities not be shut down. Jairam Thakur said that the government has been working on a mission to sell off Himachal's interests from day one.
Why hasn't the campus of the Central University in Dharamshala been built yet? Even after the central government provided the funds and the previous government completed the paperwork for land clearance, why is the current government not depositing the 30 crore rupees? Under what authority did the Chief Minister sell more than 112 bighas of land belonging to Palampur University to his friends? If the university had more land, research work and academic activities could have been conducted there, but with the policy of selling off whatever is available or distributing it among friends, the Sukhu government is causing immense harm to the state. Jairam Thakur said that whenever we go to any corner of the state, we see frustration and disappointment among the people everywhere.
During the assembly session, there are protests against the government in every open space. Every section of society in the state is eager to overthrow the government. Slogans to oust the Sukhu government are being raised in every corner of the state. On the occasion of World Disability Day, brutality was unleashed on disabled people in the capital. Brutality was also inflicted on protesting students in Dharamshala. Even daughters were beaten. After giving permission for the protest, the government then claimed that no permission had been given; nothing could be more shameful than this. Jairam Thakur said that the entire state is unhappy with the government.
In its three-year tenure, the Chief Minister has imposed taxes on the people of the state, from toilet tax to taxes on electricity, water, and even the wood used for cremations. They have drastically increased the fees for facilities that people were already receiving. The state government is continuously taking on more debt and giving benefits to its friends. The government's entire focus is on a few selected friends of the Chief Minister and Congress leaders; they have no concern for the lives and well-being of the rest of the people of the state.
