New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at his office in Delhi yesterday evening. The meeting was a courtesy visit and included detailed discussions on the parliamentary system, legislative work, upcoming all-India presiding officers’ conferences, and zonal-level Commonwealth Parliamentary Association meetings.
During the meeting, Pathania informed the Lok Sabha Speaker that the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, through eight sittings at Tapovan in Dharamshala, had completed all 35 sessions scheduled for the calendar year. He noted that the Assembly held 15 sittings during the Budget Session, 12 during the Monsoon Session, and 8 during the Winter Session. He added that the overall productivity of the House across all three sessions was nearly 98 percent, reflecting the commitment of both ruling and opposition members to the parliamentary system.
Pathania also highlighted that during the Winter Session at Tapovan, 1,699 school students observed the proceedings from the gallery, underscoring the strong democratic foundation and growing interest of the younger generation in parliamentary affairs, which enhances the global recognition of India’s democratic system.
The two leaders also discussed various social and administrative issues of national and state importance, as well as topics to be deliberated at the all-India presiding officers’ conference scheduled in Lucknow from January 18 to 25, 2026.
