SHIMLA: Former BJP state president and Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap said that the Pachhad Assembly segment has received a major development push with the construction of a ₹7.63 crore all-weather road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Addressing residents during programmes held in Gram Panchayat Bajga, he said the new road being built in the Sair–Jagas area of the Rajgarh region would significantly ease daily travel and accelerate local development.
Kashyap thanked the Union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that improved rural connectivity directly enhances livelihoods and access to services. He added that villagers have welcomed the project, which is expected to improve movement for farmers, students and emergency services.
Highlighting the BJP’s focus on rail connectivity, the MP said sustained efforts are underway to link the industrial hubs of Paonta Sahib and Kala Amb to the railway network. He informed that a central team completed the preliminary survey in 2022 for a new 62-km rail line between Jagadhri and Paonta Sahib, and the detailed report has been submitted to the Railway Board. He also noted that surveys have been conducted for the proposed 216-km rail line from Ghanoli to Dehradun via Kala Amb and Paonta Sahib.
Kashyap said that, as of April 2024, a total of 255 km across four new railway lines in Himachal Pradesh were at various stages of planning, approval or construction, calling it a significant achievement for the state.
During the visit, he interacted with students at the Government Senior Secondary School, Gagal Shikor, in Gram Panchayat Bajga and participated in a sweater distribution programme. Recalling that he received his early education at the same school, Kashyap said returning to the campus and engaging with students was a deeply personal moment.
He reiterated that the BJP is committed to holistic rural development through sustained investment in education, roads and rail connectivity.
