Radaur(Nirmal Saini):
A delegation from Bharatiya Kisan Sangh met with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at his residence in Chandigarh. Delegation included State President Satish, Regional Organization Minister Surendra Singh and State General Secretary Ramveer Singh Chauhan.Discussions lasted approximately one hour on 15 issues related to farmers. A memorandum regarding demands was also submitted to Chief Minister. Regional Organization Minister Surendra Singh stated that memorandum demanded that the coarse rice have several early varieties of seeds, which mature within a short period of time.

In such a situation, farmers face many difficulties if procurement doesn't begin. Farmers are harassed in name of portals and moisture issues. Under guise of moisture, farmers' paddy is purchased at low prices, resulting in significant losses per acre. Government should take cognizance of these issues and begin paddy procurement from September 15. Moisture content in paddy should be increased from 17 to 20 percent. Arhatiyas should be responsible for lifting grain at grain markets. Since government handed over lifting task to contractors through tenders, grain markets have been experiencing congestion during season. Lifting doesn't happen on time. Farmers face significant difficulties in depositing their produce. Cost of harvesting sugarcane has also increased. Therefore, price should be ₹500 per quintal during this sugarcane season.

To benefit livestock farmers, price of milk should be raised to Rs 90 per liter. Cooperative milk purchasing booths should be set up in every village. Strong flood prevention measures should be taken, as hundreds of acres of farmers' land are destroyed every year due to erosion. Canal water arrangements should be improved throughout state. He said that meaningful discussions were held on all issues, and Chief Minister assured to fulfill them.
