Sadhaura: A heartfelt tribute was paid to the brave son of the nation, Martyr Rocky, who was martyred in 2015 in Ramgarh Majra village of Bilaspur block in Yamunanagar district on Wednesday. Soldiers from the Border Security Force (BSF) 59th Battalion specially visited village to pay their respects by laying flowers at his memorial. Many dignitaries, including villagers, were also present during ceremony.Martyr Rocky's parents became emotional during tribute ceremony. Her mother's eyes welled with tears at memory of her son. She said that 10 years have passed since her son's martyrdom, but Haryana government has yet to build a memorial in his name.
She appealed to government to construct a grand memorial in his memory as soon as possible, so that future generations can draw inspiration from his sacrifice. Martyr's mother expressed gratitude to BSF soldiers and said that it is a matter of pride for entire family that soldiers come every year to pay tribute to her son. She said, "I heartily thank all soldiers who have come today to pay tribute to my son." In a message to mothers of country, she said that sacrificing one's life for protection of nation is greatest honor. She proudly said that her son was martyred while serving country at age of just 23, making supreme sacrifice to save lives of about 40 of his fellow soldiers.
She said, "I am proud of my son's martyrdom. His sacrifice will always be source of inspiration for countrymen." Meanwhile, BSF ASI Shriram said that every year 59th Battalion of BSF visits martyr Rocky's native village to pay tribute to him.They also meet with family members and encourage them that if they face any kind of problem or are harassed by anyone, BSF is always there to help them in every possible way. He said that Rocky's martyrdom is an example for everyone in which he saved lives of about 40 soldiers by sacrificing his own.
