Shimla: Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Anurag Singh Thakur, today participated in the collective singing of the national song Vande Mataram in Shimla on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the iconic song. On this occasion, he shared his thoughts on the timeless significance of the national song and its role in shaping India’s national spirit.

Thakur said, “In the grand yajna of India’s unity, integrity and freedom, Vande Mataram played an unparalleled and inspirational role in awakening the spirit of our national heroes. As the national song completes 150 glorious years of its existence, we must express our gratitude to all the freedom fighters and great personalities who infused this song into the very soul of India. Vande Mataram is not merely our national song—it is the living soul of our nation. And today, as we work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards the vision of a self-reliant and developed India, this song continues to be our guiding mantra.”

He further added, “The 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram is not only a moment to recall history but also a call to internalize the spirit of Swadeshi in our thoughts, words, and actions. On this foundation, the grand vision of a developed India will rise, making every citizen proud.”

Describing the song as the heartbeat of every Indian, Thakur said, “Vande Mataram is not just a song—it is a feeling that flows endlessly in every Indian heart, connecting us with the soil, fragrance, and identity of our motherland. On this historic occasion, the release of a commemorative coin and postage stamp by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in honour of the national song is a true symbol of respect for Vande Mataram and a tribute to the contributions of our national heroes.”

Thakur appealed to citizens across the country to participate in the Vande Mataram singing events being organized nationwide from November 7 to November 26 (Constitution Day), and to express their devotion and respect for the nation and its national song.
