Dalhousie ; Dr. Kiran Chadha, a multifaceted personality from Dalhousie, has once again brought laurels to Himachal Pradesh through her remarkable contributions and active public engagement. A former bureaucrat, author, poet, artist, dancer, trekker, and social worker, Dr. Chadha is widely recognised as the first person from Dalhousie to qualify for the Civil Services.
Over her illustrious career, she served in key ministries of the Government of India, including Petroleum, Commerce, Defence, and Labour, before retiring as Joint Secretary in 2010. In recognition of her achievements, she was honoured with the prestigious Shreshth Putri Award by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh in 2000. She also founded the NGO Swachh Dalhousie, Clean Dalhousie, dedicated to environmental conservation and civic cleanliness.
This month, Dr. Chadha participated in the National Digital Life Certificate Campaign meeting organised by the Department of Pensions in collaboration with SBI, held in New Delhi. During the event, she shared valuable suggestions for improving welfare measures for pensioners and extended her gratitude to Union Minister of State for Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, for enhancing pensioner facilities.
The Department of Pensions felicitated Dr. Chadha, along with other senior citizens, with a shawl for being an exemplary SBI customer. On this occasion, she also presented several of her authored books — Dalhousie Meri Aankhon Se, Bhartiya Shadiyon Ka Jadoo, Ehsaas Dil Se, and Arzoo Dil Se — to the dignitaries present.
